Beatastiftelsen, organisation number 802482-6300 (the “Foundation”), is the data controller for the processing of your personal data as described below. The Foundation is responsible for ensuring that the processing of your personal data is carried out in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) and other applicable data protection legislation. When we process your personal data, you have several rights, which are described below.

2. Processing of Personal Data in Connection with the Nomination Process for Lärargalan
In connection with the nomination process for Lärargalan—a gala aimed at elevating the status of the teaching profession—the Foundation processes personal data relating to:
(i) students nominating teachers,
(ii) guardians of students nominating teachers,
(iii) nominated teachers, and
(iv) the employers of nominated teachers, e.g. principals.
We collect this data from the nominating student/guardian, from the nominated teacher, and from the teacher’s employer.
The Foundation processes your personal data for the purpose of administering nominations and selecting award recipients for Lärargalan. The personal data processed may include contact details such as name, telephone number, email address, workplace, profession, age, and any additional information you provide within the nomination process. In some cases, the Foundation may also process data concerning health, for instance in relation to nominations for the award focused on young people’s mental health.
The legal basis for this processing is legitimate interest, where the Foundation assesses that its interest in administering the nomination process outweighs any opposing interests. When processing health data, the legal basis is consent. Personal data is stored for up to 2 years.
If the processing is based on your consent, the data will only be stored for as long as the consent remains valid, but no longer than 2 years.
The Foundation also processes personal data to highlight the societal contributions of teachers—part of the Foundation’s mission—by publishing nominations on the Foundation’s website. Data processed for such publications includes the name of the nominator, any personal data contained within the nomination text, and the name and workplace of the nominated teacher. The legal basis is legitimate interest, where the Foundation assesses that its interest in fulfilling its mission outweighs any opposing interests. Personal data will be processed until the Lärargalan event to which the nomination relates has been carried out.
3. Processing of Personal Data in Connection with Events, Seminars/Webinars, and Marketing
The Foundation processes your personal data for the purpose of inviting to, organising, and administering events or seminars/webinars. Personal data processed may include contact details such as name, postal address, telephone number, email address, dietary preferences submitted upon registration, and any additional information you provide. The legal basis is legitimate interest, where the Foundation assesses that its interest in organising and administering these activities outweighs any opposing interests. Personal data will be retained for up to 5 years, or until you choose to unsubscribe, which can be done via the link included in communications or by contacting info@beatastiftelsen.org.
Dietary information is deleted once the event or seminar has taken place.
In some cases, the Foundation processes your personal data for the purpose of documenting, informing about, and marketing our activities through photos, audio and video recordings taken at events, seminars, or webinars. Personal data processed includes photographs, audio and video recordings, and associated names. The legal basis is legitimate interest; in some cases, the legal basis may be consent, in which case you will be informed separately. Personal data will generally be stored for up to 2 years, but may be retained longer following a needs assessment depending on the marketing purpose. If the processing is based on consent, it will only continue for as long as the consent remains valid, but no longer than 2 years.
4. Processing of Personal Data in Connection with Jury Participation for Lärargalan
The Foundation processes your personal data for the purpose of administering your assignment as a jury member for Lärargalan, as well as for informing about the jury’s work on our website. Personal data processed includes name, photograph, workplace, and information included in your jury presentation. We may also process personal identity numbers or equivalent identifiers, and bank details, in order to administer compensation for the assignment. The legal basis for administering the assignment is performance of a contract. The legal basis for publishing jury information is legitimate interest. Personal data will be stored for up to 2 years.
5. Processing of Personal Data in Connection with Communication and Correspondence
The Foundation processes your personal data to communicate with you when you contact us through various communication channels. Personal data processed includes contact details such as name, postal address, telephone number, email address, and any information you provide. The purpose of the processing is to enable communication with you. The legal basis is legitimate interest. Personal data will generally be stored for up to 2 years, but may be retained longer depending on the nature of the communication, for example if it falls under any other purpose described in this privacy policy.
6. Processing of Personal Data Through Cookies
The Foundation only uses strictly necessary cookies, which are always active in order for our website to function properly. Processing may include IP address, device information, and timestamps. The purpose is to provide a functioning website. The legal basis is legitimate interest. Necessary cookies may be stored for up to 12 months.
7. Where Does the Foundation Process Your Personal Data?
As a general rule, the Foundation processes your personal data within the EU/EEA. If personal data is processed outside the EU/EEA, such processing will be subject to an adequacy decision by the European Commission or appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Data?
We may share your personal data with service providers delivering IT and system administration services. We may also need to share your personal data with providers managing payments, legal services, or other services necessary for the Foundation’s operations.
